At least three sets of nice clothes that are appropriate for shifts that include interaction with guests.  Such shifts include Dining Room, Office, Airport Run, Social Hours, Fountain (our small store), Coffee Breaks and Wine.  “Nice clothes” includes collared shirts, non-denim pants or shorts, skirts or the equivalent. We will have more formal groups, a collared black or white shirt is recommended. If you are working in the dining room, you will also need at least one pair of black pants, a plain white dress shirt and black shoes.

  • We will provide you with basic bedding from our linen company, including sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. If you prefer to bring your own linens, you are welcome to bring them as well.
  • Clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.  You will be doing a fair amount of dirty work, so please bring appropriate clothing.  You might also bring a pair of shoes to sacrifice to the wet world of hobart (AKA dish washing).
  • Cold/cool/wet weather clothes.  The weather changes very quickly here at 6377 ft. Between your arrival and departure you will experience multiple seasons in two months time including SNOW. In the spring, much time is devoted to shoveling and opening camp from its long winter slumber but, by June, it is summer and sunny. As for the fall, it starts out with 70-90 degree weather but will most likely turn into a beautiful winter wonderland before you leave, so please come expecting all kinds of weather.
  • We recommend bringing a winter hat, gloves, and a rain jacket.
  • Comfortable closed-toed shoes that are suitable for Dining Room service.  Closed-toed shoes for work that is outside.  The terrain around Camp is fairly rugged and you will do a lot of walking on non-paved surfaces.  Please be prepared.
  • Costumes! Many staff members dress up for Hobart (dishwashing) to keep it fun and interesting. We also host 80’s Bingo occasionally for guests and costumes are highly encouraged. There is a costume closet on-site that is available for staff to use.
  • Toiletries: shampoo, soap, razor, toothpaste/toothbrush,  etc
  • Allergy medications and other prescriptions, tylenol, aspirin, OTC pain relievers
  • Recreational equipment. We can lend you tennis rackets, volleyballs, basketballs, backpacks, sleeping pads etc., but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
  • Mountain bikes, hiking shoes, backpacking gear, climbing gear, swimming suit and other outdoor “necessities” are highly recommended.
  • Music, books, instruments, etc. will also be useful in your free time.
  • A battery-powered waking-up device (i.e. cell phone, alarm clock, watch).  Don’t worry, our cabins have electricity, BUT we have occasional power outages. We expect staff to arrive on time to their shifts regardless of electrical difficulties.
