When Dave isn’t the ‘man-about-Camp’, he and his wife Tamara have another full-time job: their two lovely and charismatic daughters, Danica and Tatum.

Leanna Castro

Assistant Camp Director

Bio

Leanna is responsible for assisting with year-round operational management, as well as organizing & overseeing the summer program and hiring the summer staff. She was first introduced to the Camp family as a summer staffer. She worked summers 2011-2014 and graduated from Stanford in 2014 with a degree in Human Biology, with a concentration in Preventive Medicine. Originally from the Sierra Nevada, just a bit farther south from Tahoe, Leanna likes to combine exploration of the wild with quality family and friends’ time (i.e. hiking, camping, board games, and most anything outside), as well as pursuing her passions within service and rural health care. She also works as one of Camp’s EMTs!

Dave is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. In his free time, Dave enjoys hiking, biking and Jeeping.

Morgan has been with the Stanford Sierra organization since 2003. He is the primary contact for all Conference Season inquiries as well as the resident hiking aficionado.

Originally from Chico, Rachel came to Camp in 2013 and quickly fell in love with the nature and community surrounding Stanford Camp. You can catch her managing our retail store/bar, The Fountain, or helping run events around property. In her spare time, she loves taking long nature strolls, creating art, discovering new music, and sampling all varieties of baked goods.

Bio

Bruce was born and raised in Tahoe and spent many years building homes on Fallen Leaf Lake before joining the Stanford Sierra team full-time. When not at work, you will find Bruce paddling with the outrigger canoe team on Lake Tahoe or skiing the backcountry in the winter.

Tara joined the Stanford Sierra team in spring 2013 and quickly became a favorite with her sweet, friendly personality and the tasty and healthy menus she puts together! Tara is particularly interested in creating delicious meals for guests with dietary restrictions including vegan and gluten-free.

Our Nightwatch Man, Jonny, hails from Nashville TN and has been at Stanford Sierra Camp in a number of roles since Spring 2013. Jonny enjoys hitting the hiking trails, biking, and climbing around South Lake Tahoe.

Bio

Matty moved to Tahoe from Nashville for the snowy winters, but as often happens, he stayed for the summers and ultimately fell in love with Stanford Camp in 2013. Matty loves to spend time with his lovely wife Samantha,  ride his mountain bike, go hiking and camping along the eastern Sierra and listen to good music.

Bio

Tegan oversees all of the Human Resource & Accounting functions for Stanford Sierra Camp. Tegan’s main focus is taking care of our team members. She stands by her belief in an open door policy by creating open lines of communication. During her free time, Tegan enjoys wake boarding, snowboarding, volleyball, running, softball, climbing and just about anything outdoors. When she’s not playing outside, Tegan loves to cook and host dinner parties at her house.

Millie works with conference season coordinators to orchestrate a smoothly-running program in addition to answering any of your questions regarding our programs. In her free time, Millie loves to travel! She has been all over the world, including Antarctica for 6 months in the winter!

Jan is responsible for making sure that your stay is as cozy and clean as possible. In her off time, Jan has taken to overseas travel and especially enjoys working with animals.

Bio

Carrie grew up in Southern California and has made Tahoe her home since 1995. She spends most of her days at SSCC working on the massive jigsaw puzzle that is the Summer Family Camp Program. She enjoys riding horses in Desolation Wilderness, volunteering at the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care Center, gardening in her yard, eating dark chocolate and drinking strong coffee.
